Chemical pallets were originally developed for the transport of goods in the chemical industry. Today they are also used in numerous other industries due to their diversity.

The pallet standards were created by a cooperation of the VPI (Association of the Chemical Industry) and the APME (Association of Plastic Manufacturers in Europe). The aim was to reduce pallet diversity and standardize wooden pallets for this sector.

The result was a guideline for 9 different types of chemical pallets (CP1 - CP9), in which the specifications are precisely defined.
